The Dining Room

The Kinders would have taken most of their meals in the dining room. Dinner was a formal occasion every evening for a family like this. In the early years, a live-in maid prepared and served the food.

The original light fixtures in the Kinder House were combination gas and electric. The family took the Tiffany lamp shade from the dining room when they moved out, but this one gives a sense of what the room looked like. The electrical fixtures are beneath the glass, and the gas jets are above the glass.
