Hands on History: City of Roses

Des Plaines was formerly known as “The City of Roses” because of the varieties of roses and carnations once grown in greenhouses here. Children ages 5-12 and their families are invited to learn about this unique part of Des Plaines’ history and make their own miniature greenhouses to take home. This activity is free due to the generosity of VFW Post 2992.
