Book Discussion: The River of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt’s Darkest Journey by Candice Millard

Candice Millard weaves biography, history, and adventure as she recounts Theodore Roosevelt’s harrowing 1914 exploration down an unexplored tributary of the Amazon known as the River of Doubt. She describes an unbelievable series of hardships that Roosevelt and his men faced, such as losing their canoes and supplies in the whitewater rapids, enduring starvation, being attacked by native people, and dealing with a murder within their own ranks.
