“Star-Spangled Banner”

Des Plaines History Center

Guitarist and singer Lee Murdock will talk about the many songs composed during the War of 1812 and its aftermath, including our own national anthem. He will discuss how the songs express a broad range of Native American, white American, British, and Canadian perspectives. He will also touch on how perceptions of war and its repercussions can vary widely, depending on one’s experiences. $3 suggested donation.
