Curator of Collections Siobhan Heraty will present the History Center’s new exhibit celebrating the centennial anniversary of the founding of the Des Plaines Park District. Founded in 1919, the Des Plaines Park District is one of the oldest park districts in Illinois. Curator Heraty will discuss the history of some of Des Plaines' most popular parks including Rand Park, Lake Park, and Prairie Lakes Park. This lecture will also explore the history of the Des Plaines Park District's outdoor ice rinks, swimming pools, community centers, and athletics teams.
