Programs & Education

For the Classroom

For the Classroom

The History Center's mission and focus is educational. We offer programs, such as the Traveling Trunk, and bring it to your classroom. We also welcome school groups that are interested in a field trip to the History Center.

Book Discussions

Book Discussions

Book discussions are scheduled every other month at the History Center and are led by the History Center's curator and a staff member of the Des Plaines Public Library.

Coffee Talks

Coffee Talks

Focusing on interesting topics for adult audiences, the Coffee Talk programs are typically held on the second Thursday of the month. Guest speakers present these topics followed by a short question-and-answer period. Check our Calendar for upcoming scheduled programs.

Children's Programs

Children's Programs

Providing hands-on learning activities for children is an important part of the History Center's mission. Kids learn about history while working on creative projects. Children's activities at the History Center include Afternoon Adventures, Homeschool Adventures, and School Day Off programs. Find out more on our Calendar page.
