Books are chosen at least two months in advance and are available at the Des Plaines Public Library's Reader Services desk.

BOOK GROUP MEETS At the Des Plaines History Center

Pamela Newkirk’s account about an African man who was placed in a New York zoo is shocking and powerful. It shines a light on the racism that was rooted in America in the early 20th century. Pick up a copy of the book at the Des Plaines Public Library. Call the History Center at 847-391-5399 to register. This event is co-sponsored by the History Center and the Des Plaines Public Library.
